Riverfront Friday in Downtown Daytona – Outdoor Movie and Concert by Up2it

The fourth Friday of each month is now known as Riverfront Friday. It began on 26 April 2014 with a performance of a local rock band called Up2it, and an outdoor movie – Hunger Games: To Catch Fire sponsored by Daytona Cinematique.

The event is organized by the Daytona Downtown Development Authority, and supported by sponsors. For more information, visit RiverfrontShopsofDaytona.com.

Championship High School Baseball @ Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Downtown Daytona – 22 April 2014

While the field is home for the Daytona Cubs, it is also used by Bethune-Cookman’s baseball team, and the site for regional high school championship games.

I went to Jackie Robinson Ballpark expecting to find it empty, since the Daytona Cubs are on a road trip.

The “field of dreams” was occupied by New Smyrna Beach High School and Deltona’s Pine Ridge as they prepared to play a one-and-done elimination game for the 5-6A district championship. New Smyrna Beach won, 4-2 in 10 innings, qualifying for the state tournament.
