Daytona Beach Military Tattoo @ Peabody Auditorium Posted on Posted onJune 16, 2019June 16, 2019By Ken English When you hear the word ‘Tattoo,” do you think of body art? Well, the word Tattoo was used in the 1600’s to identify an evening drum or bugle signal calling soldiers back to their quarters. A Military Tattoo is a form of entertainment consisting of music, marching bands, displays and exercises by military personnel. The first Edinburgh Military Tattoo was held in 1950 as part of the Edinburgh Festival. Today, it is the centerpiece of event. In 2018, the capacity of the stands was able to accommodate a nightly audience of 8,800, allowing 220,000 to watch the multiple live performances. “Pipes, Drums and Patriots” will mirror the Edinburgh Tattoo, but will blend American Patriotism into the program! Produced by Joann Gilmartin who grew up watching the Edinburgh Military Tattoo at the Castle each year. The Daytona Beach Tattoo will be a mix of Traditional celtic and American Patriotic Music, with a special Tribute For The Fallen. The performance will feature Scottish born, award winning recording artist, Joann Gilmartin’s “Glasgow Girls” Celtic Band, players from the Coastal Florida Police & Fire – Pipes & Drums; Orlando Firefighters Pipes & Drums; Mount Dora Pipes & Drums, and, Orange County Sheriffs Office Pipes & Drums. Senior Drum Major Ken Misch of the iconic Los Angeles Scots Pipe Band, and World Champion Drum Major, Jason Paguio of the Simon Fraser Pipe Band will perform, as well. Drum Major Paguio is a five time World Champion. He was the first person from outside the U K to win the World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. He will perform an exciting freestyle exhibition. “Pipes, Drums & Patriots” is sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1048. All proceeds will be donated to local Veterans causes. The performers are donating their time and talents to this event as a token of their appreciation for those who serve our nation. General Admission Tickets are 12, 22, and 32 dollars. A VIP package is available for $100, which includes a post show reception. Saturday, August 3rd , 2019. 7 PM. Peabody Auditorium.
